Runner-up Minh Kien is haunted by the story of a human trafficking victim

Hanoi [Vietnam], September 29: To embody the character of Ut Det, runner-up Minh Kien met and spoke with people who had been victims of human trafficking. These haunting stories from real people and real events became the material that helped her understand the character's psychology more deeply and portray the role more authentically.
Minh Kien's mother was heartbroken to see her daughter bruised and battered on screen.
In her second foray into film, runner-up Minh Kien attracted attention with her role as Ut Det in " Human Trafficking Camp" . The character is a girl from a disadvantaged background who longs to earn money to help her family and find an opportunity to change her life. However, she is unfortunately tricked into a transnational fraud ring.
To prepare for the role, the second runner-up of Miss World Vietnam 2023 spent time training physically and learning to swim to meet the demands of the action scenes. In addition, the beauty queen, born in 2004, also met and talked with people who had been victims of human trafficking rings to better understand the character's psychology. Minh Kien said that these real-life stories helped her visualize the harsh circumstances that the victims had experienced.
"Among the 700 actors participating in the film, some had been sold into human trafficking camps, so I spoke with them. I know that only by listening to real people and their real experiences can I truly portray the characters' psychology. Even as a listener, I felt it was incredibly horrifying. They confided that mealtimes were anything but normal; they were beaten before being allowed to eat. Besides that, I also heard the story from actor Nhân Ga. He was also tricked into a human trafficking ring. After escaping, he even participated in rescuing victims from human trafficking camps," Minh Kien shared.
The second runner-up of Miss World Vietnam 2023 also noticed many similarities between herself and Ut Det, especially in their love for family. Both came from difficult circumstances and always wanted to work hard so that their loved ones could have a better life.
Minh Kien confided: "When reading the script and learning about Ut Det, I realized that I and the character have quite a few similarities. Ut Det loves her family very much, always thinks about her mother and brother, and wishes she could do something to give them a better life. Perhaps the biggest commonality is the feeling of a child always wanting to protect their mother. I've also gone through difficult times, so I empathize quite a bit with the desire to work hard so that the family can have a more comfortable life."
After watching the film, Minh Kien's mother couldn't help but feel heartbroken seeing her daughter appear bruised and battered on screen. Meanwhile, the actress felt proud that " The Human Trafficking Camp" surpassed the 100 billion VND mark in revenue. For Minh Kien, this achievement is a recognition of the efforts of the entire crew in making the film.
