Mr. Zelensky: Ukraine is 'not the last stop' for Russia

Feb 18, 2023

Kiev [Ukraine], February 18: Speaking online at the Munich Security Conference in Germany, the President of Ukraine called for arms aid to weaken Russia's potential.
Reuters news agency reported on February 18 that Ukrainian President VolodymyrZelensky said that it was clear that Ukraine was not the end point of Russian President Vladimir Putin's campaign.
Speaking online at the Munich Security Conference in Germany, he said immediate Western aid to help repel Russian forces would be vital.
According to him, while the West was negotiating the supply of tanks to Ukraine, the Kremlin was thinking of ways to "strangle" Moldova in western Ukraine.
"Obviously Ukraine is not his last stop. He will continue to the end, including every other country that was at one time part of the Soviet bloc," Zelensky said.
He called on the West to maintain the pace of weapons supply. Kyiv's allies have promised tanks and are discussing the supply of long-range missiles. However, they were hesitant to support fighters.
"Procrastination is always a mistake," the leader emphasized. At the same time, he said he did not think Russia would win.
He likens Ukraine and Russia to David and the giant Goliath, whose story ends in David winning. "We need speed, speed of agreement, supply and reinforcement of weapons, decisive speed to limit Russia's potential," he called.
Russia has not commented on Mr. Zelensky's comments.
According to Reuters, nearly 50 bipartisan US lawmakers attended the opening of the conference, demonstrating US support for Ukraine.
Four delegations of Republican and Democratic leaders and members of both chambers joined one of the largest U.S. delegations to the Munich Security Conference since 1963.
