Geneva (Switzerland), August 6: The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on Thursday affirms its "observance of the guidance incorporated in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Resolution 2758."
In a note to the Permanent Mission of the People's Republic of China (PRC) to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland, ITU said it affirms its observance of the guidance incorporated in the UNGA Resolution 2758 on the restoration of the lawful rights of the PRC in the United Nations.
ITU also affirms its compliance with Resolution 693 of ITU Administrative Council on the representation of China in ITU.
The UNGA adopted Resolution 2758 in 1971, which decides to restore the lawful rights of the PRC in the United Nations and to recognize the representatives of the PRC government as the only legitimate representatives of China to the United Nations.
In May 1972, ITU adopted Resolution 693, restoring the legal seat of the PRC.
